Web design quotes range from €500 to €50,000 for what looks like the same brief. The difference is scope, quality, and what's actually included. This page breaks down what you should expect to pay, what drives the price up, and what three packages look like from us in concrete terms.
what's always included.
fixed scope in writing
Every quote comes with a written scope document. What is included, what is not, how many revision rounds, and what happens if scope changes. Black on white before any payment.
no hidden fees
Hosting setup, SSL, plugin licenses, stock images, and 30-day post-launch support are in the quote from the start. The invoice matches the quote.
staged payment
40% on signing, 30% on design approval, 30% on launch. No full payment upfront, no post-delivery invoice surprises. You review and approve each stage before the next payment.
clean code you own
Custom-built sites, no purchased themes. All code and design belong to you from day one. No monthly platform fee, no lock-in clause, no complication if you ever switch agencies.
three packages, clear scope.
presentation site
Up to 7 pages, custom design, WordPress build, on-page SEO, contact form, and 30 days post-launch support. Suited for service businesses, consultants, and companies launching a first professional web presence.
site + content system
Everything in Starter, plus blog system, up to 12 pages, advanced integrations (booking, CRM, newsletter), and basic e-commerce. For businesses with ongoing content or lead generation needs.
e-commerce or custom build
WooCommerce store, web application, multilingual site, or any project outside standard scope. Fixed price quoted after a technical brief call - not an open-ended estimate.
what is never in the price
Ongoing hosting (€150/month, billed to you by the provider), domain renewal (€15 to €50/year), and optional ongoing maintenance retainer (€300 to €800/month). These are ongoing operational costs, not our markup.
the pricing questions everyone has.
Why is there such a big range in web design quotes?
Three main variables: quality of code (purchased theme vs custom build), seniority of team (juniors learning on your project vs seniors who've done this 200 times), and what's actually in scope (base site vs everything needed for a functional business web presence).
A €500 freelance quote delivers a WordPress site with a purchased theme. A €5,000 agency quote delivers custom design, clean code, and a tested, maintained system. Different products, different price.
Can I get a cheaper price if I supply the content?
Yes. Copywriting and photography/image sourcing add cost. If you supply print-ready text and high-quality images, the quote drops by approximately 15 to 25% depending on the number of pages.
We still review supplied content for SEO optimisation as part of on-page setup - that's included at no extra cost.
What does 'custom design' actually mean?
It means we design your site from scratch rather than installing a purchased theme (like Divi, Avada, or any of the 10,000 templates on ThemeForest).
Custom design means your site looks like your business, not like a generic template your competitors could be using. It also runs significantly faster because there is no unused code bloating the page load.
Are there ongoing fees after launch?
Yes, but not to us unless you choose a maintenance retainer. The unavoidable ongoing costs are hosting (you pay the host directly, not us) and domain renewal (same). Optional: plugin licenses (€0 to €300/year) and a maintenance retainer from us.
We are transparent about these in every quote. You know the ongoing cost structure before you sign.
How do I compare quotes from different agencies?
Ask four questions of every agency: Is this a custom build or a purchased theme? Who specifically will build it (senior or junior)? What revision rounds are included? What are the ongoing costs after launch?
A low headline price with purchased theme, junior team, one revision round, and undisclosed maintenance fees often costs more in the medium term than a higher upfront custom build.
Can I start with a smaller budget and upgrade later?
Yes. We have clients who start with a Starter site and expand to e-commerce or multilingual later. We build with future expansion in mind, so 'upgrade' means adding functionality, not rebuilding.
When quoting the initial project, we note what a likely upgrade path looks like so you can plan budget across 12 to 24 months, not just for the launch.
